python3.3-dev libopenimageio-dev libglew-dev libboost-dev

Distributed Rendering
Using Blender to render frames in parallel on a cluster or small collection of networked computers can be achieved through the Network Render extension.
Starting up the master, slaves, and client
- Just go to Blender -> Preferences -> Addon and type network.
- Problem: each different user account has to re-install the addon.
- Master: Choose Network Render renderer, and go to render mode. Choose Master. Start.
- Slaves: Start any number of desired slaves (Network render, render mode, client, start)
- The slaves will say that they're connected to Master, waiting jobs.
- Client: Finally start another blender with network render as usual (Network render, render mode, client). Click refresh and it should show the system status and buttons to accept jobs
Running a Job
- Save blend file, put path into client
- Send a render job through the client
- Observe the statuses
- The job queue can be observed by clicking on the big button "Open Master Monitor" or through the web
Problems / Issues / Questions
- Not clear how different users of a large cluster would share the blender instances or not. We've decided that they will not share, although all processes listen to port 8000
Commandline Cluster Automation
http://blenderartists.org/forum/archive/index.php/t-217859.html
- Need a script to start all slaves on all nodes on a large cluster.
